Robert Zehnder
Robert Zehnder was born 1992 in Summit, NJ. and he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015. He is currently based in Brooklyn, New York where he is primarily making paintings. Secondarily, he has a practice in sculpture, designed objects, and music/sound. In his paintings, he prompts figure-ground relationships that create psychological and/or formal narratives. He draws from local or personal experiences and easily accessible symbolism. Color and composition is very important to the logic of his work. Zehnder is interested in mythical imagery, ambient music, ceramic and glass objects, public sculpture and seating, and how we visualise the human psyche and experience in a post-digital/internet age, amongst many other things.
